Appearance: To the naked eye, Alphonse looks like a large man in an even larger set of full plate armor of harsh jutting angles and spikes. Though, a slight tap to the metal will produce a hollow, empty sound. What completes the oddity of his persona is the childs voice resounding like an echo from deep within.

Personality: Though the younger of the two Elric brothers, he is the one who keeps their wits about him. He loves his older brother, Edward, deeply and is rarely found anywhere but at his side. He is nothing more then a soul bound to an empty set of armor, incapable of experiencing physical sensation. The lack of physicality as enhanced his emotional state, for that is the only way in which his is capable of feeling. He can no longer remember the feel of a kitten's fur, the taste of food, or the touch of his brother's hands. Through all his sadness, all his emptyness he is still hopefull. He is a beacon of perseverence that one day, they will find the philosopher's stone and return their bodies to normal.

Abilities/Weaponry: Though not as gifted as his brother, Al is a talented alchemist as well as a martial artist. He is able to move faster as a suit of armor then any man wearing one. He remains fairly insdistructable, unable to be killed as long as the blood seal on the inside of his armor remains unbroken, keeping his soul fused to the metal.

Weaknesses: He can be quick to trust where others would be warey, especially if something about the person reminds him of his mother or brother. He can't stand seeing anyone or anything suffer, and will go out of his way to ease their pain in anyway he can, even to his own detriment. Though he tries to act as the voice of reason in his brother's life, he will follow him blindly into catastrophy after catastrophy if he called for it.

History: As young children, Alphonse and his brother Edward lost their mother to an illness. To them, it seemed she had become sick quite suddenly when in fact, she had been living with it for quite some time in secret. Her death traumatized them. Especially Ed, who refused to accept that she was gone.

Even at the ages of five and six, the Elric brother's were talented alchemists. They used the knowledge they had gained from their father's books, and the money their mother left them to find a teacher. When they felt they were ready, they returned to their family home in Risenbool to attempt to resurect their mother using human transmutation, a forbidden form of alchemy. The transmutation was a failure, Alphonse had lost his entire body and Ed had given up his arm and leg as components to attach his soul to a suite of armor in their father's study.

While Ed blames himself for what happened to them, Al carries around just as much guilt for going along with it. He did not stop them even when he felt it was not a good idea. When Ed was fitted with an automail arm and leg, and was well enough to make the journey, they traveled to Central where, at twelve years old, Ed became the youngest person to ever become a State Alchemist.

Now, they travel the world seeking the knowledge of the philosophers stone in hopes to make right their past sins.
